As we approach the start of the New Ecclesiastical year and consider the theme of “Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God,” we each have an opportunity to participate in Adult Religious Education. Educational offerings emphasize flexibility and options so that each of us can participate throughout the year.

Options include:
Spiritual Journal: We will all be encouraged to keep our own Spiritual Journals to record our thoughts, questions, and observations in our own walks with Christ. Weekly topics related to the Gospels will be provided beginning in September. Also, the journal can be used as a means for your own reflection throughout the year.

School of the Seventy: A self-directed adult Orthodox education program sponsored by St. Luke the Evangelist Orthodox Church in Palos Hills, IL. This wonderful book and podcast program allows you to explore Orthodox topics at your own pace and to suit your own interests. For information please see the website: www.70school.blogspot.com

Introduction to Orthodoxy 1 and 2: Two six-week sessions based in the book Introducing the Orthodox Church by A. Coniaris. Taught by Fr. Lou and Fr. Dino.

Bible study of the Epistles: Two six-week sessions on the Epistles. Taught by Fr. Lou and Fr. Dino.(Session I – Galatians, Session II - Ephesians)

Book study: During the second six-week session (beginning Nov. 4), we will offer a study of The Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. Taught by Staci Stech.

We hope that with the variety of self-paced offerings and group classes, that each of us can find a way to participate in Adult Religious Education. Be on the lookout for information to come in the following weeks, and the “Fall Semester” beginning September 9.
