Stewardship

Dear Parishioners of Saint Catherine:

The Ecclesiastical New Year for our holy Orthodox Church begins on the first day of September. The annual cycle of feasts and fasts begins anew.  May we mark the start of this Ecclesiastical New Year with a renewed dedication to philanthropy through the good works of Philoptochos.

The Ladies Philoptochos Society is the philanthropic arm of the Greek Orthodox Church.   As members we are committed to help those in need.  For almost 80 years, Philoptochos has undertaken a multitude of philanthropic programs to aid the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the sick, the elderly, the unemployed, the orphaned, the imprisoned, the widowed, the disabled, and victims of disaster, whether they are in the United States or elsewhere in the world.

Our mission is to promote charitable, benevolent and philanthropic outreach, to preserve the sanctity of life and family, and to perpetuate and to promote our Orthodox Faith and traditions.  Our goal is to honor our relationship with God by using our gifts, our abilities, our compassion, our empathy, our faith and our love to make a better world for our family, our Orthodox community and our contemporary society.

We invite all Greek Orthodox faithful women and men to become members of Philoptochos, whether active or supportive.  Please join us or renew your membership for 2011.  Let us share our many blessing with those most in need.

All members of our parish are encouraged to make a financial pledge to Philoptochos. The National and Metropolis Philoptochos treasuries receive a total $25 of every member’s stewardship.  The remainder of each pledge is used in the vibrant work of our chapter here at Saint Catherine.  Please make your check payable to Saint Catherine Philoptochos.

We invite you to join us for Dinner and our first meeting on Monday, September 19, at 6pm in our Fellowship Hall. Please R.S.V.P. to the church office by September 14.

Thank you for your continued love and support.

With you in His service,

Valerie Ranahosseini,

Saint Catherine Philoptochos President
