HOPE AND JOY

FALL 2008

What is Hope and Joy?

* It’s the social gathering and service outreach of our children grades k-3 (Hope) and 4-6 (Joy). We will have a short, fun event each month on Youth Sunday to create community amongst the kids, and to teach them about the importance of service to those in need. We will meet in the gym during fellowship after liturgy (while you have coffee and chat!).

Fall Schedule

September 7: An ICE CREAM SOCIAL!!

* Fr. Dino will greet us and tell us a bit about the Feast of the Cross next weekend, we’ll have make-your-own sundaes, and everyone can get registered for religious education classes at the same time!

October 5: Why do we serve?

* We’ll have snacks and play games, Fr. Dino will talk to us about why Orthodox Christians serve those in need, and we will decorate prayer cards to put in meals that will be given to the homeless.

November 2: Why do we fast?

* We’ll have snacks and play games, and Fr. Dino will talk to us about how children can take part in the upcoming advent fast as well as telling about some of the Saints of this month.

December 7: Giving for the Feast

* We’ll have snacks and play games, Fr. Dino will talk to us a bit about the real meaning of Nativity, and we will decorate a “Giving Christmas Tree” with children’s hats, gloves, socks, mittens, and scarves… which will be given to kids who need them but have none.
