St. Catherine Pet Blessing –  Our pets need God’s blessings too!

Saturday Nov. 12, 2011 10:00 a.m.

St. Catherine Church in the courtyard in front of the church

Bring your household pets to St. Catherine to be blessed by Fr. Lou.  We will hold a Blessing of the Waters service with a special prayer for the animals. Father will then offer a blessing to each of the animals

Join us afterward, for a short fellowship with coffee, hot cocoa, cider and donuts!

 

Children can even bring their stuffed animals!

I hope and pray that you are doing well.

I would like to remind you all on behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah and the Arcons of the 10th District of the Order of St. Andrew that there is a “Religious Freedom Symposium” on Saturday Sept. 17 at the Assumption of the Theotokos Cathedral.

The symposium will be presented by Anthony Limberakis, the National Commander of the Order of St. Andrew. Dr. Limberakis will be speaking about the challenges facing the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople as they continue to fight for Religious Freedom after hundreds of years of oppression.

I will be attending and invite you all to seriously consider doing so as well.

Building Up the Body of Christ

With our invitation to “Come and See,” we have discovered a new perspective about faith, about Church, about love, about salvation and about Stewardship! Acquiring this new perspective, coming from the heart and joining with others, we will see the world as God’s gift. Viewing our Stewardship from this new perspective will give our church the power and means to invite others to “Come and See”. To see what our Church can become, not just surviving, but expanding, serv- ing and witnessing for God. Come and See! It involves teaching ourselves how to create a life built upon the notion that all that we have is a gift from God. Sometimes even invoking increased risk to experiment with sacrificial giving in order to help the community realize critical and important goals and programs.

The ultimate goal of St. Catherine’s Stewardship Program is to fund 100% of the operating budget through stewardship contributions. This will enable the use of funds generated from special events to be directed toward up- grading facilities, building new vital ministries, and new out- reach programs to further Christ’s work through our par- ish. We strive to encourage Stewards to volunteer their time and talent to enrich the ministries of our Church. Fostering involvement develops fresh ideas and new perspectives. This leads to a renewed spirit of energy, enthusiasm and growth in each of us as members of the body of Christ.
