Mission Statement:

The Mission of the Department of Outreach & Evangelism is to renew and share the Orthodox Christian Faith in America by nurturing a deeper commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ within His Church, by reaching out to inactive Orthodox Christians and to the unchurched, by meeting the needs of those inquiring about the Orthodox faith, and offering each community the tools for parish renewal and for the establishment of new parishes. As Archbishop Demetrios has said, “It is the Parish, it is the local community which has been, is, and will forever be the central, indispensable agent for offering our Orthodox faith to contemporary America.”

5-Point Mission of the Archdiocese Dept. of Outreach & Evangelism:

  1. Revitalize the faith of active Orthodox
  2. Reach out to inactive Orthodox Christians
  3. Meet the needs of those inquiring about the Orthodox faith
  4. Offer the tools for parish renewal
  5. Offer guidance in the establishment of new parishes

Summary of parish programs to achieve the Mission:

  • Philanthropic Giving Fund and Local Charity Communications
  • Food for Angels – perpetual food drive with collections distributed to local food banks
  • Coordinate brochures and outreach programs with other church ministries
  • Oversight of Visitors/Welcome Committee and International Ministries (IOCC, OCMC)
